Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to in the media as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Parents named her Winona after the town she grew up in. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father had a Jewish background. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder and her family relocated to Mendocino, California in the year 2000, when Ryder was just seven. There wasn't electricity. Ryder was a consummate reader and spent her time reading books as there was no television. At the age of 12 Ryder joined the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. Ryder landed her first film role on the big screen in 1986 when she was 15 years older. Ryder faced bullying in high school. Ryder hoped that her actions would bring about a change. However, the plan didn't pan out. Still she continued pursuing her dreams. Ryder made her breakthrough through Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder played successful roles for numerous films. In 1993, she was nominated twice to win Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part In The Age of Innocence.
