Selena Quintanilla......................Selena was born April 16 1971 in Corpus Christi Texas . Selena is the eldest child born to Marcela Quintanilla. When Selena was eight she began working in a group that was formed by her dad. Selena and her brothers Abraham junior and Sister Suzette played drums. Selena sang for the group. The group was dubbed Selena Y Los Dino and Selena would be performing with her siblings at different venues, wedding fairs, bars and many other places. Selena along with her sisters as well as their parents worked hard playing in the band. The band never had any kind of childhood. However, Abraham encouraged them to become dedicated musicians by his determination. Abraham senior was a member of the original band called Los Dinos. Selena Y Los Dinos officially began in 1981. The band was Quintanilla's main business. Although there were tough times starting out with very little cash, the Quintanilla family persevered and remained focused with their efforts to become a thriving group. Selena Y Los Dinos would become popular throughout the west States in the early 1980s. Selena won the Female Vocalist Award and the Performer's of Year award at the Tejano Awards in the year 1986. Selena Y Los Dinos became famous and recognized following this moment. They appeared on a variety of spanish-language TV programs, like El Show De Johnny Canales, Siempre en Domingo and Sabado Gigante.
